Welcome to Epping St. John’s Sixth Form,

Enrichment Opportunities
At Epping St. John’s we are not only concerned about the academic success and wellbeing of our students. We are also committed to providing opportunities for personal growth through our enrichment programme. We want the young men and women who live here to have the skills and qualities that employers and universities are looking for. We encourage our students to take full advantage of the range of activities on offer:
- Completion of an Extended Project Qualification on a topic of their choice.
- Level 3 Maths qualification (for those students not taking A Level Maths but still interested in the subject, or those who are studying subjects with a proportion of mathematical skills eg Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Engineering)
- Physical activities
- Classroom Assistant experience
- Mentoring younger students
- Volunteer in the local community eg Primary School, Nursing Home
- Work experience (Students are welcome to organise this during their free lessons)
- First Aid course
- Open Learn certificated courses (free online courses in areas of a student’s own interest)
- Food Hygiene Certificate and
- Fundraising for charities
- Involvement in whole school productions
- Supporting at extra-curricular clubs
- Sixth Form Council
- Trips
* Students are also welcome to put forward their own ideas for enrichment clubs.
Careers and Post 18 advice
Careers advice for Sixth Form students begins during the interview process where applicants are questioned about their aspirations to ensure that the choices they are making are in line with that vision.
Our help and support does not end there.
Mrs. Madden is our dedicated careers advisor and Sixth Form administrator. She works tirelessly to ensure that all students are given the support they need to make decisions about their post 18 lives. This includes:
- University Admissions
- Apprenticeship Applications
- Work Experience
- University taster events
Further careers support is delivered by our Sixth Form Tutor team during SMSC time. Students are encouraged to investigate the range of options available to them when they leave Epping St. John’s, research the entry requirements for these courses, investigate the costs of these options and how to manage their money and ultimately make the best choice for them as an individual. In addition tutors offer advice on writing CVs and personal statements and on how to apply for part-time employment. Some of our most used resources are listed below:

Dress Code
Students are expected to dress appropriately for school and act as positive role models to the rest of the school. Their uniform should reflect business dress and look professional at all times.
Male Dress Code
- Lanyard with identification to be worn at all times
- Suit
- Collared Long Sleeved Shirt
- Tie
- Jumper (optional)
- Shoes – Formal footwear. No trainers, canvas or leisure wear shoes.
- Coat – Formal coat. No hoodies, sportswear or track suit tops. Coats must be removed when inside the building.
- Headwear may be worn for religious reasons.
Female Dress Code
- Lanyard with identification to be worn at all times
- Suit (trouser, skirt or dress suit)
- Dress – business style dress, must be knee length
- Skirt – knee length
- Shirt/blouse – must be appropriate for the work environment i.e. not see through, cropped or off shoulder.
- Jumper/ Cardigan
- Shoes – Formal footwear. No sandals, trainers, high heels or open toed shoes.
- Coat – Formal coat. No hoodies, sportswear or track suit tops.
- Coats must be removed when inside the building.
- Headwear may be worn for religious reasons.
For all students
- No visible tattoos
- No extreme hair styles or colours
- If you have a visible piercing clear retainers must be worn
