Student Absence
If your child is going to be absent from school, please notify the school before 8:30am by emailing the Attendance officer, Mrs Barbarossa, using BarbarossaD@bmatesj.org.uk.
Alternatively, from our website you can message us by using the contact tab, then selecting Attendance Officer from the drop down recipient list and completing the details required. This must be done on a daily basis to safeguard our pupils.
If your child has sickness and/or diarrhoea they should not return to school until 48 hours after their last episode.
Should your child be absent for more than three consecutive days medical evidence will be required and sent to the Attendance Officer.
Due to changes in the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006, Academies/Schools may not grant leave of absence during term time, therefore, no holidays will be authorised for students, and we will seek penalty notices through the local authority.
Should you need to take your child out of school, you must obtain permission from the school.
An Application for Leave of Absence during Term Time, available at Reception, must completed and submitted well before the planned absence. Completing the form does not guarantee that the absence will be authorised. We will not accept any request by any other means but the Application for Leave of Absence form.
Students who need to attend medical appointments must provide a copy of the appointment letter or any other medical evidence before being collected by their parents. We will expect evidence for any medical appointment taking place during the day, including if it happens at the end of the school day but requires for your child to be collected before the end of the school day.
