Girls reach their goals in sport
Posted: 18th February 2019Girls are putting their best foot forward and reaching their goals in sport.
Female students at Epping St John’s School are winning their way through to the finals of various competitions.
The under 12 football team won through to round five of the English Schools’ Football Association National football competition, beating St Ivos 5-4 after extra time and putting them in the top 32 Year 7 teams in the country.
The under 12 netball team got to the last eight of the Essex Cup, while the under 14 team made round four of the Plate competition.
Tom McGarr, PE subject lead, said: “We are getting big numbers of girls coming along for training and are striving to be a force and school that particularly excels in female sport. They are brilliant.”
Boys at the school are having their own successes, with the under 14 boys making it to the quarter finals of the Essex Cup and the Year 7 football team were undefeated in the recent district competition.
