Community show displays young talent
Posted: 7th June 2021Amateur dramatics are being put on display to celebrate the talents of young people.
Drama students at Epping St John’s Church of England School have been auditioning to take part in a summer talent show.
The members of the school’s drama club will showcase their talents during the show on the school’s field in July.
Michael Johns, English and drama teacher, said: “The plan is for the show to be outside, with the audience bringing picnic blankets to sit on the grass and the performances happening under the open sky.
“The drama club has begun rehearsal of an outdoor play based on Aesop’s fables and members of dance club are preparing dances on the theme of freedom.
“There will be music, theatre and an exhibition space for students’ visual art.
“It’s been amazing to see the joy with which students have returned to the drama studio after a break of more than a year. A lot of artistic students have been heartened by this opportunity to put their skills on show.
“We are hoping this event will reconnect Epping St John’s with the community and serve as a celebration of the work and talent of our students, as well as being a sunny, creative sign-off to a challenging school year.”
