Children Rewarded at New School
Posted: 14th November 2022Students were rewarded for showing integrity, resilience and diligence as they settle into their new school.
Parents were invited to Epping St John's to find out how their children have been settling into Year 7.
The settling in evening gave an opportunity for parents and students to meet with tutors, to hear about the activities which have already taken place and to see work on display.
Two students were also nominated in each subject for demonstrating integrity, resilience or diligence in their first weeks at secondary school.
Headteacher Mike Yerosimou said: “This cohort have settled so quickly. It was a proud moment, for all, to see them gathered to celebrate their achievements.”
Anmarie Petrou, head of Year 7, said: “This was a real celebration of achievement. I think parents/carers were shocked at just how much their children had experienced or achieved in such a short span of time!”
Assistant headteacher Serife Horner said: “This is going to be a fantastic cohort. We are so impressed by all they have achieved and how well they have settled. It feels like they have been here for years already; they are confident students who embody our desired characteristics of diligence, resilience and integrity.
“We couldn’t be prouder.”
It is the first settling in event the school has been able to hold in-person since before the pandemic.
