Our Sixth Form community are lucky to have such supportive parents and community. Our Year 12&13 students had their first experience of interviews this academic year. It is always really popular and we couldn’t do it without our school community pic.twitter.com/41n97OCurj

Geneva Promotes Science Careers to Students

Geneva Promotes Science Careers to Students

Posted: 7th December 2022

Career opportunities in the world of science were demonstrated to young people as they took a trip to Switzerland.

Students who are keen on science took the opportunity to spend three days in Geneva.

During the trip, they had a guided tour around CERN, the research centre which operates the biggest particle physics laboratory in the world.

Sobia Javed, head of science, said: “Visiting the CERN site was an incredible opportunity for our students. We were lucky to be able to visit the birthplace of the worldwide web; the corridors were plastered with original posters from the building’s opening in 1954.

“We want to encourage curiosity and critical thinking, and this residential trip offered students exactly that. It was remarkable to see students recognising the exciting opportunities the world of science can open up, and the range of jobs that would allow them to specialise in their chosen scientific fields. Students were amazed at the number of opportunities that are out there.

“Students were also able to immerse themselves in the beautiful culture of Switzerland.”

The group also visited a science museum, Geneva Lake and the Jet d’Eau fountain.
