GCSE Results 2024
Posted: 22nd August 2024Young people have achieved more strong passes in their GCSEs than any cohort before them.
Year 11 students returned to school to collect their GCSE results.
Almost half of the year group – 47.1 per cent - achieved strong passes in both English and maths, with almost three quarters of the group – 71.6 per cent – achieving a pass in both subjects.
The results show an improvement in the school’s outcomes by 7.7 per cent compared to last year.
Of the cohort, a total of 20.7 per cent achieved the very top grades of Grade 9 to 7 in English – a leap of 4.8 per cent - with 16.5 per cent achieving Grade 9 to 7 in maths – a rise of 4.7 per cent.
Students with special educational needs and disabilities also scored higher – with an increase of 21.4 per cent of students achieving Grade 9 to 5 in maths and an increase of four per cent of students achieving grade 9 to 5 in English.
Among the top achievers this year were -
- Alessandra Aronica, with nine Grade 9
- Harry Blair, with two Grade 9, three Grade 8, two Grade 7, one Grade 6 and one Grade 5
- Lily Beecroft with three Grade 7, one Grade 6, two Grade 5 and two Grade 4
- Piper Hawes with two Grade 9, one Grade 8, three Grade 7 and three Grade 6
- Isabelle Lavery with six Grade 9 and three Grade 8
- Adam O’Boyle with five Grade 9, three Grade 8 and one Grade 7
- Thomas Philips with two Grade 9, one Grade 8, three Grade 7 and three Grade 6
- Oliver Stevenson with six Grade 9 and three Grade 8
Headteacher Mike Yerosimou said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and the results they have achieved.
“There are more strong passes in more subjects than ever before and we are particularly pleased with results in English and maths.
“There was a calm confidence within this year group before and after most exams and we now know that was not misplaced!
“GSCEs are an important stepping stone to post-16 education and we are delighted that these results mean the vast majority of our Year 11 students will be remaining with us in our exceptional sixth form.”
Standard pass in English: 78%
Standard pass in Maths: 70%
E&M: Standard Pass (4+) 71.6%
